I promised to do my best to publish something each week, even if it wasn't in keeping with the theme. This week's topic for the 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks Challenge is "Historic Event" but I'm taking a fairly intensive Genealogy Practicum course online at Boston University at the moment. Transcribing a letter is about all I had time for this week, so it will have to do.
This is another in a series of letters from my grandmother Helen's boyfriend, Charlie Knight.

Dear Helen,
Sorry I had to leave the way I did last night but I couldn’t help it. We had a swell evening together but I had something on my mind. Helen are you still on the square? Are you still telling the truth?
Helen did you get a letter or write yesterday? You know. Don’t forget I’m not as foolish as I look. Come dearest, tell the truth. And I suppose you say you won’t get one to-day. Well wait and see. I’m not wrong all the time. I know more than you admit. Can’t you tell me the truth if I see you to-night? I’ve got a surprise for you in two or three days. But how can I feel happy about it the way things are?
Be Good Dear,
Charles
P.S. Don’t forget the ice cream. Chuck
